Pradhan Mantri Matru Vandana Yojana (PMMVY) is a maternity benefit for Indian women. The scheme is been rechoreograph, enhanced and and adopted from earlier scheme Gandhi Matritva Sahyog Yojana (IGMSY).

PMMVY aims for conditional cash transfer policy for pregnant (would be mom) and lactating women.

PMMVY dispense a significant wage compensation to pregnant and lactating women for monetary and wage-loss during pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum and childcare and to supply environment for safe and healthy delivery and sufficient and adequate nutrition and feeding routine practices.

Scheme Goals:  

  1. Encouraging appropriate and suitable standard practice, care and enabling institutional service utilizations during the critical time period of Pregnancy, childbirth, postpartum, lactation & childcare. 
  2. Promoting optimal nutrition and motivating the women to follow feeding routine & practices, promote breastfeeding their new-borns at-least for first six months.
  3. Incentives and monetary rewards for enhanced health and nourishment or sustenance to would-be mothers (pregnant women) and lactating women
