The Department of Science & Technology has initiated a special scheme called “Sophisticated Analytical & Technical Help Institutes (SATHI)”.

About the scheme

Aim: To deal with the necessity for building shared, professionally managed and powerful S&T infrastructure within the country which is quickly accessible to academia, start-ups, manufacturing & production, processing industry and R&D labs etc.

Implementation

These Centres are expected to deal with major analytical instruments to supply common services of high-end analytical testing, thus avoiding ambiguity & duplication and minimising dependency on foreign sources.
Transparent and open access policy operations.
DST has already found out three such establishments within the country they are …

  • Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) - (IIT-Kharagpur)
  • Indian Institute of Technology - (IIT-Delhi)
  • Banaras Hindu University - (IIT-Varanasi)

Objectives of the Scheme

To address the issues of intelligible (accessibility), maintenance, redundancy and duplication of pricy equipment within the institutions.

This will also encourage a robust culture of cooperation between institutions and across regimen to benefit advantage of developments, innovations and expertise in a wide variety of areas.
