Chinese Version of Mother of All Bombs (MOAB) - Background Context

  • The People’s Republic of China has added one more feather to their crown, this time they developed the so-called “Mother of All Bombs” to counter the United States' “Mother of All Bombs”. Chinese has this bad habit to develop the Chinese version of everything, this time they went too far. International tension is already building up between US and China, and China decided to make it more worst.
  • This new weapon of mass destruction is referred to as MOAB because the lethality of this MOAB is no less than a nuclear weapon or next to a nuclear weapon.

Background Information

  • Recently last year, the United States made a bold move for the war raging in Afghanistan, the state's military arsenal decided and went ahead to drop the GBU-43/B (Massive Ordnance Air Blast) or Mother of All Bombs on the war site in Afghanistan.
  • The Chinese MOAB is said to be lightweight and smaller (better be like that) than its American counterpart, but no less in its lethality.
  • China needs to concentrate on minimizing and reducing the carbon footprint and making their cities more clean and breathable, instead of developing some ugly contraption like MOAB.

Mother of all Bombs (MOAB)

  • GBU-43/B is the world’s largest non-nuclear weapon.
  • The lethality of the weapon is designed to destroy heavily stronghold targets or to dismantle ground forces and armor across a large area or wider region.
  • It is said that the blast of MOAB is equivalent to detonating 11 tons of TNT at once.
  • To bring it down to human-understandable form, the nuclear bomb “Little Boy” dropped on Hiroshima, Japan had a payload equivalent to 15 tons of TNT.
  • The MOAB lethality stretches miles in each direction and the MOAB leaves no traces of radiation or its after-effect due to Non-Nuclear in nature.

Father of all Bombs

  • Russia needs no invitation when it comes to the topic of War and Weapons. Leave East (Chinese) and West (United States), Russian Federation went ahead and developed the Father of All Bombs which resembles the name due to its bigger in size and thermobaric in nature (thermobaric bombs generate gigantic fireballs rather than a shockwave.
