The state of Sikkim Sikkim has publicized the “One Family One Job Scheme” to eliminate the unemployment faced by the youth of Sikkim.

Brief About the Scheme

  • The objective of the Scheme One Family, One Job Scheme is to provide One Govt. job for one Family in the state of Sikkim.
  • Eligibility: Families who are currently in a situation that has none of their family members in Government Jobs are eligible for Government recruitment under this scheme.
  • The government has announced that the nature of the job is permanent and would be actually regularised after five years of the time period.

Significance and Outcome

Sikkim has always been known to try an innovative and subtle solutions to stabilize the livelihood of the people of Sikkim. Thus it first Indian state of the Republic of India to launch an exclusive scheme to provide one Government job per family. Sikkim has set aside 70% of its revenue for the remuneration of the state Government employee salaries.
